Brendan's 1st Surgery

We kept putting this dreaded day off for as long as possible, until finally, we had to take Brendan to the hosible (hospital) to have boy parts surgery. It was cute because he kept saying "we have to go to the hosible".

Brendan had a communicating hydracele (mild hernia) since he was about, um, I'd say 9 months. But after about a year, we felt pretty sure that it wouldn't be going away on it's own and that medical intervention was the only solution.

Given his age, poor guy did a pretty good job with the anesthesia and recovery. But it's definitely not anything we want to go through again. And the doctor said it was a pretty good sized hernia so he was glad we did the operation.
Oh, and Brendan struck gold from family and friends! We made (and also let everyone else make) a big deal about him having the surgery so he was showered with a bunch of "you're going to the hospital gifts" and a few of them definitely came in handy afterwards!!

Here are a few pics from the hospital prep...
